Bunkers Paradise Fam! Just checking back in for an overview of my fall season here at Central College. I just want to say that it is great seeing more and more members joining the Bunkers Paradise community. It is a great golf network and at this rate, the sky is the limit for where it can go.
In the last article that I wrote, I talked about how our golf team is progressing as time goes along. We have two seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall season is to show our coach if we have improved over the summer and if we continued to progress as a team. For me, I felt like I needed to show my coach that I have progressed into a well-rounded golfer who is constant even during tournament play. I started off my first tournament firing a 78. It was tied for the best round on my squad and I felt it was a good start to my season.
After shooting that 78, I know I needed to keep up the consistency to keep on moving along the ranks. There are about 15 competitive golfers on my team and the only way to get recognized is if you can perform under pressure. I ended up making the 2nd team the next tournament and shot a 77 the first day and an 83 the last day. I was the last pairing on the second day and had to play the last three holes in the dark. I’ll tell you what, if you don’t have a bright yellow pinnacle ball with you, it is hard enough to just hit the ball in the pure darkness, let alone trying to hit it well! I knew I was a better golfer than my last round and I wanted to make a statement going into the next tourney.
After qualifying well and shooting some positive tournament scores, my coach decided to put me on the 2nd team for the third week in a row. I was playing as the number 6 golfer on my team and I felt that all I needed to do was finish off my season strong and I can possibly crack the top 5 going into the spring season. My next tournament I ended up shooting a 74 the first day, and a 75 the final day. It gave me a lot of confidence going into the last tournament of the fall season.
This past Sunday, we drove up to Forest City, Iowa. For those of you who don’t know the Midwest very well that pretty much meant we were in the middle of nowhere! I knew that if I kept this confidence going, I can fire a round that will put me on a high note going into the spring season. I went out there with nothing to lose and shot a 74. It gave me first place medalist honors and sealed the team victory for us. It was the first tournament I won as an individual for my college and it was also the first team tournament the 2nd team won. I was very ecstatic with my last score of the fall and I will not stop working to reach my full potential.
I will keep you updated with how my spring semester is going and I hope everyone in the bunkers paradise fam will keep going strong!
