Ping S56 Irons Review: Used by Louis Oosthuizen

The Ping S56 Irons are used by several of the PGA Pro Ping staff including Louis Oosthuizen and Hunter Mahan.  The S56 Irons has a tungsten toe weight (for higher trajectory) is used in the long irons. The middle and short irons have a progressively smaller and deeper weight that pushes the CG forward for a more controlled flight.  At address, the S56 looks like an old school blade design, which is kind of fun to look down at.
Feel:
This club is for the good ballstriker and probably not the best club for a beginner or someone looking to improve their game.  The club does perform quite well  in almost all facets.  This version of Ping’s blades are quite forgiving and you get that solid feel at impact.   If you hit solid – centered shots, you will get plenty of feedback in your shots.  For you golfers who have the ability to move the ball with draws and fade, this is a very good club.
The S56 Irons cut through the grass very nicely while working those fairways, unlike some of the clubs that feel like shovels sometimes.
Recommendation:
The Ping S56 could be the club you want if you are looking to move from game improvement irons to a nice blades set.
