Mizuno JPX-800 Game Improvement Irons Review
With an ultra-thin clubface (using strong “Hot Metal” material), Mizuno Golf has creating a club that increases distance while its cavity design creates a larger effective hitting area and lower, deeper CG. The Mizuno JPX-800 game improvement irons come with some unique technology. The 4- through 7-irons have high COR for enhanced distance while 8-PW have a deep cavity for maximum forgiveness.
Mizuno also created an exotic pocket cavity to allow for maximum energy transfer. What I mean by that is, they created a larger than normal cavity back which allows the thin club face to bend slightly and create more distance almost like a driver would.
Look:
The Mizuno JPX-800 Irons a really something to look at. They are extremely handsome, have a great looking shape and has smooth lines. The blue in the badge just adds to what already looks like a classy, hard nose club that will improve your game.
When you are standing over the JPX-800’s you will notice a thick top line, which actually gave me a little more confidence that the club was going to perform like Mizuno meant it to. To wrap up the looks of this club, I would have to say that is one of the best looking clubs I have seen. The chrome looking finish is just classy and the blue makes it stand out even more.
Look Score: Very High

Feel:
The Mizuno grips felt perfectly fine and that is to be expected with quality club makers. These are major game improvement irons, so they are meant to help you keep that ball flying straight down the fairway and onto the green. With that said, they felt confidently strong while holding them and standing over the ball. As you addressed the ball, the Mizuno JPX-800 Irons made you feel comfortable and part of that is due to the thick top line.
The clubs were weighted well for having a bit larger club head and swung very nice.
Feel Score: High
Performance:
Now here is what you all have been waiting for…. How did it perform. When talking about the JPX-800 game improvement irons, you have to remember that it is meant for the golfer who needs help keeping his ball flight straight. With that said, they do not allow for much “working the ball” if any at all. But what it did do was help mis-hits and make those solid hits fly further than many other clubs out there.
They performed from all areas on the course very well. Whatever the lie, and trust me, I see them all, it performed very well. It allowed solid hit after solid hit with consistent distance improvement for myself. It was nice to take a club out and get some extra distance since I am not a “long” player. To say that this club performs well is an understatement.
Performance Score: Very High
Final Thoughts:
If you are looking for a super game improvement iron, look no further than the Mizuno JPX-800 Irons. These clubs perform, add distance, are forgiving and look great on top of all that. With most golfers in the range of handicap from about 5-20, these clubs will work just fine for all of you.
