Wilson Staff Conform Glove Review

In 2010, the Wilson Staff Conform Glove was given a gold medal award from Golf Digest.  Well that was 2010, so we wanted to take a look at the newest 2013 model from Wilson.  Wilson was nice enough to send over their newest model of the Conform glove.

The Wilson Staff Conform glove has premium Abyssinian cabretta leather, an anti twist thumb for club control, an exclusive Tack Teck tanning process to help with feel and grip, 3M Scotchguard leather protection for softness that will last and Anti microbial mesh to help with moisture and comfort. So what does all that mean?  That’s why we have our three important questions that all golfers want to know.  How did it look, feel and perform? So let’s get started.

Looks:

IMG_2931We all have our preferences when it comes to look.  Some like white gloves with a nice logo or some may like a black glove to stand out a bit from the crowd.  The Wilson Staff Conform glove is a good looking glove that has a lot of contrast with the three black fingers and the one white.  The three black fingers obviously have a purpose other than for looks and we will get into that in a minute, but discussing looks I thought it looked great.  It has the W/S (Wilson Staff) logo on the overlapping velcro just as most companies have their logos there and has a black trim around the base of the glove adding a little more contrast and color.

Looks Score: High

Feel:

IMG_2938I will admit, I am one to be skeptical about all the mumbo companies write about their products in saying how theirs is better than the others.  I understand it is part of the marketing, but sometimes it is just over done.  I don’t think Wilson’s marketing of the conform glove is too much and neither do I think it is exaggerated.  The glove felt very good, the leather was soft and I had great grip of my clubs.  I played on a rather cold day so I was not able to see how the mesh and other features helped with dissipating moisture from sweat but the mesh allowed for great movement around my knuckles.  The overall feel of the glove was quite nice.  I am not a fan of all leather gloves because I tend to feel a bit restricted, but the Wilson Staff conform glove allowed that freedom of movement.

Feel Score: Very High

Performance:

IMG_2929The Wilson Staff conform glove has excellent grip control with no slipping at all.  I used this on a cold and damp morning and had no issues whatsoever.  It’s nice to know that when you grab your clubs, even if damp, you won’t have issues with slippage.  With the mesh knuckle area I could easily bend my fingers with no tugging on the glove.  What I mean by that is with some leather gloves, when you bend your fingers, the top of the glove slides up your hand cause the leather just doesn’t bend well. So as far as performance goes, the Wilson Conform glove was excellent.

Performance Score: Very High

Final Thoughts:

We all have different purposes on why we buy certain products.  It might be the brand name, the looks, what Rory or Tiger uses etc, but if you are looking for a good quality golf glove for a decent price, you can’t go wrong with the Wilson Staff Conform Glove.  If we did a star rating system it would get 4.5 our of 5.  The reason it wouldn’t get a 5 is because I like having a ball marker on my glove.  Petty I know, so overall it’s an outstanding golf glove.
