Golf News: Brandt Snedeker Returns From Injury

By Ron Mintz

url-1Brandt Snedeker returns to the PGA TOUR this week after missing the last five tournaments due to a rib injury. Snedeker last event was the Pebble Beach Pro-Am which he won. Few knew that on that winning Sunday, he was in pain during the last round, saying “the pain increased on the last four or five holes.”

Snedeker also missed the US Open due to a rib injury. And while the two incidents are not related, “I had about every test run you can possibly have run,” Snedeker said. “The good news is I’m completely healthy. The bad news is I’m completely healthy. So I don’t know why it keeps happening.”

When Snedeker took time off he was perhaps the hottest on Tour. Despite being gone five weeks, he remains No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings, and 4th in the World Golf Rankings. It doesn’t hurt either that his last tournament resulted in a win for 2013.

“I’m probably the freshest guys on the PGA Tour right now because I haven’t played in five weeks, so I feel great about it. I just want to give myself a chance on Sunday. With a great field like this, it would be a lot of fun.”

Snedeker had been mentioned as a favorite going in to the Masters, before his injury. He has added the Houston Open next week to his schedule to help him in his return, and gearing up for the Masters.
