Voice Caddie Review – An Easy to use Golf GPS Yardage Device

Voice Caddie—A Caddie for the Golfer (who doesn’t talk back )

When you get out on the golf course, it is always nice to have a caddie with you to help you with yardage. However, sometimes you just want the caddie to just tell you the yardage and nothing else, because who knows your game better that you do!!!

In comes the Voice Caddie!! Here is an amazing device that is as accurate as my legs in walking off distances to the green from marked sprinklers or the 200, 150 and 100 yard discs many course have to assist you in how far away you are from the hole.

So let’s get into our Voice Caddie review.

What is the Voice Caddie??

The role of the Voice Caddie is simple: It tells you accurately how far away you are from the Center of the Green. I will not take into account the wind or conditions; that’s for you to decide. It is a central part of the game in supporting you the golfer with how far away from the center of the green you stand.

The Voice Caddie is considered a smart device that uses GPS reception that calculates with accuracy the distances you are from the green across the course. It is simple to use and you have it with you at all times as it is fastened to your hat.

This device replaces the big bulky screen with a single button. One click before you decide on your club and it will say, “hole number, left green/right green, 00m/yd” Yes, you can decide on meters or yards.

Another feature of Voice Caddie is its ability to calculate shot distance. Press and hold button before your shot and then press and hold again when you arrive where the ball lands and it will calculate the range of your shot. (note, you need to go as straight to you ball as possible for the accuracy).

I had the great opportunity to take the Voice Caddie for a golf stroll to really check out how it works, if it is accurate and if it can find the course I am on via the GPS System. Yes, Yes and Yes.

As a former LPGA Tour Player, I have never actually utilized a GPS yardage device. I am not one for taking out a device like binoculars (nothing against them)…I just like to keep it simple and have always relied on my legs to walk off the yardage and make my club decision.

At the LA Golf Show, we at Bunkers Paradise ran into Mr. Jin and his Voice Caddie and I thought that this may just be what I am looking for and put it to the Kate Hughes Challenge.

Here is what I was looking for in a GPS Yardage Device:

1. Will it be a distraction?

2. Is it light and something that will not affect my peripheral vision (very important in golf)

3. Will it be absolutely accurate on the yardage within a maximum of 1 yard

4. Will it look good

5. How long will battery last…full round, two rounds

6. Can it tell me how far I hit my shots

Without any further delay, allow me to take you through the answers to the questions and let you get a real sense for how the Voice Caddie performed in the Kate Hughes Challenge!!

Kate Hughes Golf Review Challenge for The Voice Caddie

The Voice Caddie to me is an essential part of my arsenal for golf now. I will admit it was fabulous and accurate just like I wanted it to be. It was totally spot on to the center of each green no matter where I was coming in from (trees, two fairways over, rough…all those awesome shots).

The look is sharp. My Voice Caddie is white and was perfect with any outfit. It fits perfectly onto your cap with a snug fit so you need not worry about swinging 1000mpg and having it fly off down the fairway further than you shot.

It is so easy to use!! You must charge it up first and then you should after every round you play with it, but I was able to get two rounds out of it. You simply press the button once from where you stand and it tells you exactly how far away from the hole you are currently standing. It also has a volume control that when she talks, you simply depress the side volume button down and she will speak softly. If you need to increase volume, you simply do the same procedure but press the + button while she is talking.

I also asked my playing partners if they could hear her and they could only if I was within 5 yards of them at the lowest volume…so that is a plus as well.

The Voice Caddie never once in the rounds I played got in my way, slipped or affected my focused golf vision in any way. Actually, it felt like there was nothing on my cap at all. Loved that!!!

Lastly, I was also able to check out how far I was hitting my clubs. I simply pressed and held the button down for a couple of seconds, hit my shot and then going as straight as possible to where the ball landed and repeated the process and it gave me a pretty good range of just how far I hit my 300 yard drive (OK…but I can dream!!!).

Bottom line, this Voice Caddie is my new caddie on the course. I am confident that it is totally accurate in it yardages as I played 3 different courses with it and not once was it off and I had my playing partners check with their respective devices (mine was more accurate!!)

What I truly love about this GPS yardage device is that I don’t have to keep reaching in my bag to pull out a heavy GPS device and try to aim it at the flag (hey sometimes I have had way too much coffee and can’t seem to keep the ‘target aim point’ on the flag because I have the caffeine shake; or what if you are nervous and shaking??)

I give this device more than thumbs up and a Bunkers Paradise Highest Grade and recommendation. If you need a yardage device that is easy to use, accurate and doesn’t talk back (like a live caddie), then this is the one for you!!!
