The New Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 Irons Preview | Quick Look Review

No official word from Wilson Staff on the release of their new line of irons, but we were able to get a sneak peek of the new 2014 irons.  Wilson Staff had a strong 2013 and it looks like they aren’t holding back for 2014 either.  I have heard from many of our fans how nice it was to see Wilson coming back into the picture with quality irons and I have to agree with them.

In this quick look review we will focus on the FG Tour M3 Irons.

Wilson Staff went to their tour professionals and asked what they wanted to see in a better golf club and the FG Tour M3 Irons is what was delivered.

Coming from the Wilson Staff crew, they have  created a golf club with the look, feel and workability of a forged players’ iron, while delivering a great deal of forgiveness.  Hers is what is NEW with the Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 Irons:

– Forged from 8620 carbon steel with a matte black PVD finish.

– Progressive cavity design with optimized weight placement within each head whereby mass is placed only where it will benefit the golfer.

– Near the topline: thin on all irons for a lower center of gravity andgreat feel.

– Near the impact area: thinner in the long irons for increased ballspeeds and distance, transitioning to thicker in the short irons for precision and workability.

– In the heel and toe area: as much mass as possible moved tothe heel and toe in the long irons for an increased MOI and more forgiveness, transitioning to a more uniform thickness in the short irons for consistency and repeatability.

Our first take on the FG Tour M3 Irons, is a positive one.  If you missed the Wilson Staff D-100 Irons of 2013, you know that Wilson Staff means business.  The D-100 Irons were a legitimate contender last year and if Wilson has continued their relentless push back to the top of the golf world, I imagine the FG Tour M3 Irons will be another step in the right direction.

Stay tuned for our full review of the Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 Irons.
