Golf News: Andres Romero Shoots a First Round 61 and Follows with an 81
The game of golf can be so marvelous at times, but other times can be just a complete disaster. For Andres Romero, he experienced the bliss and frustrations of golf all in two days.
Romero had an amazing first round 61 where he dominated the field at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open other than J.J. Henry’s outstanding round of 60. Romero only has one career PGA Tour win and was excited after such a strong round at TPC Summerlin.
As round two began, it looked as thought Romero would be in contention to get his second PGA Tour victory, until the round started and then disaster struck. Romero shot an awful 81, 20 strokes worse than his first round of 61. Worse yet, he missed the cut. As you can see below, Romero only had one birdie, a triple bogey, a double bogey and 6 bogeys.
Romero matched a PGA Tour record set by Kevin Stadler at the 2008 Frys.com Open (he shot 81-61) and Colin Montgomerie at the 2002 British Open (64-84).
