I believe 2014 is the year companies all over the world will deliver some of the best products to date. This could be said about the new 2014 Nike VR Forged Pro Combo irons that have taken their previous model to another level.
The Swoosh has heard the demands on improving the past VR Forged Irons and have made the tweaks to make this club even better. This player’s iron is a great piece of art that I think will be VR_Forged_Pro_Combointroduced into a lot of golf bags this season.

Product Review:
Look 9/10:
Nike has designed a clean looking club that will look good in any players’ hands. If you are a fan of forged irons such as Mizuno then you will probably appreciate the clean lines and materials in these Nike-VR-Pro-Combo-Forged-Right-Handed-Mens-Golf-Irons-Set-GI7376_001_Agorgeous clubs. The pocket cavity for long and mid irons is very well done to keep it almost unnoticeable at address because the last thing anyone wants on a player iron is a gigantic cavity look. Colorway is simple with the typical black/red but always looks good with a Nike Swoosh. I give the overall look of the VR Forged Pro Combo Irons a 9/10.
Distance Control & Accuracy 9/10:
The pocket cavity on the long and mid irons is a great addition to help players feel more confident hitting better shots without fret of skulling one up the fairway. They are well designed to provide maximum control in the hands of any player. Even had the chance to deploy these clubs to my coworker for a few rounds. Giving high marks on the playability and quality of these clubs. He saw huge improvements compared to his current irons, especially in the accuracy.
These clubs are right up there with my Mizuno MP64′s on distance control which is great when trying and comparing new clubs. Accuracy marks playing a few rounds were deadly accurate allowing close approach shots to have a chance at making birdies which is vital with iron play. I would recommend to any golfer looking to improve their iron accuracy to make sure to try the Nike VR Forged Pro Combo Irons when selecting new clubs this year. I give the overall distance control and accuracy a 9/10.
Feel 8/10:
No, Nike doesn’t sell butter knives but they do sell some fine looking irons that feel like butter knives. I promise these will not cut you either but will slice through any turf you put in its way. The mad scientists over at The Oven have taken their prior model of the VR Forged Combo irons and elevated them to a new level especially in the feel department. In my opinion nothing feels better with golf clubs then forged irons compared to cast models and I was glad to see Nike stuck with updating their prior model in the new combo irons. The longer irons especially feel great with the polymer filled cavity to make those long iron blows feel a lot cleaner off the face. Only thing I am disappointment with is how they took the pureness of the short iron blade and switched to the switch cavity. If they bring back a version 3.0 it would be great to see the blade come back for the short irons. Overall the feel of these irons are great, and I give the rating a 8/10.
Weighting 8/10:

Nike defiantly didn’t disappoint this year with their newest improvements to the VR Forged Combo line. These clubs are light and agile and capable of delivering any shot shape you desire at impact. It’s a well-balanced club that feels comfortable throughout the swing and delivers real results on the golf course. These clubs are designed to provide maximum distance and optimum ball flight that can be seen when playing with them in person. I give the weighting a 8/10.
Overall Rating 34/40:
Nike has done well. It’s another year where they have stepped up to the plate and delivered another home run. They have given golfers what they want and that it a gorgeous looking iron that will perform to the highest level. I really enjoyed playing with this iron and believe a lot of other players will see great benefits to their approach game as well. Be prepared 2014 since I believe it could be the year of the Swoosh. Hopefully Rory and Tiger play better this year which should help out Nike a ton.
The only drawbacks I found were the loss of the pure short iron blade and I wish these irons came with KBS shafts as the stock option. Hopefully they can make both of those things happen next time.
