Bubba Watson wins Northern Trust Open
It’s been said that golfers must play with a short memory. Well Bubba Watson must have a really short memory. He was in contention 2 weeks ago in Phoenix, before missing a par putt for the tie. Bubba started the weekend with a double-bogey on the short par-4 10th hole, and added another double bogey 2 holes later. He didn’t give himself much of a chance heading into the weekend. He entered the 3rd round 1-under and 8 shots back of the leader. Apparently nobody told Bubba he wasn’t in contention. He went on to have the best weekend in the history of the Northern Trust Open. He shot back-to back bogey free 64’s. He finished the tournament at 15-under, 2 shots ahead of Dustin Johnson.
Dustin Johnson must be itching to get to Augusta. With the season’s first major only a couple months away, Johnson has opened the season on a tear. In the short season, he already has a win and 3 second place finishes. With his distance, if he continues to play with this consistency, he will have multiple wins this season.

The win was the first for Watson since winning the Masters in 2012. It was also the first win that his young son Caleb was there to witness. You could see him and mom fist pumping after Watson made the winning putt.
The whole year is about rejoicing. For me I’m just thinking about how blessed I am to play on the PGA Tour, blessed to have my family — my beautiful wife and little son — everything is just gravy right now.”
It seemed every time he got into trouble, he hit an amazing shot and then made a huge putt. When Bubba Watson is making putts, with his distance off the tee, and his ability to make seemingly impossible shots, he is one of the best players on the Tour. With his success so far this season, he has to be one of the favorites for the season’s first major in April, The Masters.
