
The New Trump Doral: By the Numbers
All eyes are on Doral this week as the PGA Tour heads into Miami for the WGC Cadillac Championship and while the likes of Tiger, Rory and Phil will no doubt turn plenty of heads as they strut their stuff, it is the revamped Blue Monster Course that is the real star of the show.
Donald Trump bought the 800 acre resort – an acquisition that made “The Donald” the largest land owner in Miami – and has pumped endless amounts of cash into a complete overhaul. So much cash in fact that we figured out, based on our stay & play packages for Doral, that if Trump had just spent his money with us at Your Golf Travel, he could have stayed at the resort for 320 years and played 66,708 rounds of golf!
Gil Hanse – the man in charge of building the Olympic golf course in Rio de Janeiro – was commissioned to restore the luster of the Blue Monster and early signs are that The Blue Monster has certainly had its teeth sharpened!
