Can Michelle Wie Make The Women’s U.S. Open in a Runaway?
Wie finished with two BIG birdies on her final two holes to finish with a round of 68 and is at four under par, she stretched her lead out to three strokes as they head into moving day on Saturday. Wie with her putter on fire made some huge par putts on Friday and seemed to manage her game just fine on the extremely tough course at Pinehurst No. 2. Wie won earlier this year in Hawaii and has seven other top 10’s this year, including a runner-up finish in the first major of the year.
Winner of the first major this year, Lexi Thompson is the only other lady under par, after a round of two under 68 and is three back of the leader, Wie. World #1 golfer, Stacy Lewis (the leader after the first round) fell back into a tie for third as she struggled to a three over par 73 on Friday and is tied with amateur Minjee Lee (71) and Amy Yang (69).
Unfortunately 11 year old Lucy Li will not be here for the weekend after a second straight round of 78 and missed the cut by some seven shots, but this young girl has a bright future in this sport. Pinehurst No. 2 wasn’t very gracious on another HOT day in the North Carolina sandhills. We will have all your weekend scores right here at Bunkers Paradise.
