United States Eliminated from International Crown

In a sudden death playoff between the USA and Republic of Korea, the Korean team came up big on the first playoff hole with birdies, the USA couldn’t match them leading to the host and #1 seed team, the USA not being in Sundays singles match. The Republic of Korea joins Japan, Sweden, Thailand, and Spain as the five countries that will square off tomorrow in the singles matches to crown the International Champion.
Sweden came out strong Saturday and swept the Australians with Caroline Hedwall and Anna Nordqvist winning 5 and 3 over Karrie Webb and Minjee Lee, not to be out done by their partners Pernilla Lindberg and Mikaela Parmlid dominated Lindsey Wright and Katherine Hull-Kirk and won 7 and 5. Sweden advances to Sunday’s single matches with a total score of 7.
Spain needed a sweep in their two matches against Chinese Taipei on Saturday and that’s exactly what they went out and did. In the first match Carlota Ciganda and Azahara Munoz defeated Yani Tseng and Phoebe Yao 6 and 5. In the other contest Belen Mozo and Beatriz Recari finished off Teresa Lu and Candie Kung 1 up. Spain moves on with a total of 7 points and Chinese Taipei is eliminated.

The Republic of Korea spilt there matches with Japan with Inbee Park and So-Yeon Ryu defeated Mika Miyazato and Mamiko Higa 4 and 3. Japan took the second match when Na Yeon Choi and In-Kyung won over Ai Miyazato and Sakura Yokomine 3 and 2. Japan advances with a total of 8 points and The Republic of Korea won in the sudden death playoff and has 6 points.
The United States also spilt there matches with Thailand. With Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson winning over sisters Ariya Jutanugarn and Moriya Jutanugarn 3 and 2. Thailand took the second match with Pornanong Phatlum and Onnarin Sattayabanphot, who won over Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis, 1 up. With the victory Thailand moves on with 7 points and after the sudden death playoff loss the United States will have to watch on Sunday.
