Best Golf Clubs of 2014 Awards: Driver, Irons, Hybrid, Wedge and Company

We just posted our 2014 BP Golf Community Awards, so now it's time to give you our picks for Best Golf Clubs of 2014. THE BEST GOLF CLUBS OF 2014 DRIVER OF THE YEAR: Ping G30 Driver This award goes to the driver our staff thought was the single best performing driver, including distance, forgiveness and overall looks. Picking the best driver from the class of 2014 was pretty darn difficult. There were so many good drivers in 2014 but the Ping G30 driver walks away the winner. Review Quote: I am perfectly comfortable in my reviews to say when something sucks, and the Ping G30, does NOT suck… not one bit. With it’s simple but clean looks most golfers will enjoy looking down at this club. But where this driver stands apart is it’s ability to create long and straight drives. When it comes to performance, you will be hard pressed to find something better. Picking from the best irons was also extremely difficult. There were some outstanding models this last year not only from the big OEM's but from some of the smaller companies as well. But the Nike VRS Covert 2.0 irons win the 2014 award. Review Quote: If Nike’s mission was to build a set of irons for the 80% of golfers and make a statement to the golf industry, then they have done exactly that. The looks are amazing, the feel is downright scary in a game-improvement club and the performance is addicting, especially on those long irons. Again, 2014 was an outstanding year for golf clubs and the fairway woods were no exception. Other clubs like the Cleveland 588, Callaway Big Bertha and Titliest 913F woods were close calls, but the Bio Cell+ walks away the winner. Review Quote: In comparison to my previous fairway, fitted professionally, I averaged 6 more yards and average dispersion was down from 16 yards to 9 yards. I rarely tee the ball but haven’t had any issues and from other lies it has been stellar. I’m not much of trajectory player but can easily launch this at both a mid and high trajectory when needed. Just take a look at most golfer's bags and you will find some sort of hybrid. Nearly every golf company is producing outstanding hybrids, which made this decision one of the hardest of the group. Let's be honest though, Adams Golf is still the standard when it comes to hybrids and that is why the Adams Pro Hybrid wins this award. Review Quote: For those like me who have seen the value in switching to hybrids, but stubbornly hold onto those long-irons, the Adams PRO Hybrids may be the clubs to get you off the fence. Adams certainly knows hybrids, having become the most trusted Hybrid on Tour, and that status is not earned without merit. By developing easy to hit hybrids like the PRO line, they are working hard towards achieving their goal of “owning the second shot”, and certainly providing a club that could have a home in many a golfers bag. With the Cobra Trusty Rusty, Callaway Mack Daddy 2, Titliest Vokey and many more it was incredibly difficult to pick just winner, but we did. The winner of the 2014 Best Wedge Award goes to the Cleveland RTX 2.0 wedge. Review Quote: Cleveland Golf has a long and prestigious track record in the world of wedges. It is not a surprise that they are able to improve as years go by. Not just by providing more technology in their designs, but by giving the buyer multiple options to best fit their needs. With it's roots stuck so deep in golf's history, the return of the putter was like Christmas for many of us golfers. While there might have been a few better performing putters out there as far as distance control, this putter brings you back to the heart of golf and being a true ball striker. Review Quote: This putter has been around for over 50 years. It has been used by the champions who became legends, like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Ben Crenshaw. It’s produced by a company who was been around long enough that there is nothing left to prove. The 8802 carries the heritage and the pedigree needed to become an icon in golf. It surely deserves a spot in your bag or on your wall. So let's get to the reasons why Bombtech Golf wins this award. Not too long ago, Bombtech Golf was an unknown to the golfing world, but that can't be said any longer. With the production of the Grenade Driver they stormed the scene in 2013. But that was just the beginning. The clubs alone are not the reason Bombtech walks away with this award.
