Ping Unveils New Products: G30 LS Tec, Glide Wedges and More

Ping Golf has just announced their newest clubs for 2015.  With giant sales of the G30 driver in late 2014, they are excited about the new model, which is going to include their “low spin technology”.  Along with the new G30 LS Tec driver, they also announced several other clubs, including putters, wedges and more.  So let’s take a look at the new 2015 line from Ping.

G30 LS Tec (Low-Spin Technology) Driver:

With the amazing success of the Ping G30 driver, I’m surprised it took so long for Ping to come out with the LS Tec version.  It’s set up for less spin and a higher MOI to create a longer and more accurate ball off the tee.  More importantly, Ping is saying it’s more accurate and longer than the original G30 driver.

A sole weight was added to the driver to position the CG low and back, which is slightly more forward than the original G30.  Ping is claiming that is is approximately 400 rpm less spin than the original. It still has the Turbulator Technology of the original that I’m sure many of you are familiar with.  It was placed on the crown of the driver to reduce drag for a faster clubhead speed.

You can also use the “Trajectory Tuning+ Technology” from ping to add or subtract up to 1 degree of loft.

Glide Wedges:

The new Glide wedges from Ping are already getting a lot of buzz as they are used by 12 Ping staff players at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this last week.

“For all golfers, being able to flight your ball with the ideal spin and trajectory will produce consistent, predictable results on any type of shot for hitting the ball close to the pin. The name says it all: these wedges glide through the turf better than anything we’ve ever seen.” said John Solheim of Ping.

So let’s see what they are all about.  The first thing Ping did with the Glide wedges is add 3/4 of an inch to the grip to encourage gripping down on the club for more control.  Not a bad ideas if you ask me.  They also have three different sole types, standard, wide and thin to create an arsenal of wedges for attacking the pin in any condition.

The lofts ranging from 47 to 54 degrees and all will have the “Gorge” grooves of 16 degrees sidewall to enhance full shots.  Lofts ranging from 56-60 will have 24 degrees sidewall to optimize more spin on chips and pitches.

Available in standard sole (SS), thin sole (TS), and wide sole (WS).

– 13 loft/sole options: SS: 47º, 50º, 52º, 54º, 56º, 58º, 60º; TS: 58º, 60º; WS: 54º, 56º, 58º, 60º
– Dyla-wedge grip: ¾-inch longer, grip-down markings at 1 3/8″ intervals, softer tapering profile
– Stock shaft: CFS Wedge (stiff flex, 118g)
– U.S. MSRP: $140 w/steel shaft; $160 w/graphite shaft

“Engineering performance without sacrifice means as we achieve more distance, for example, there’s no tradeoff in forgiveness, accuracy or feel,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Our Glide wedges have several innovations to make it our most versatile and consistent wedge line ever. In the Cadence TR putters, different-weighted face inserts represent a new approach to putter fitting for better results on the greens. The G30 LS Tec driver complements our industry-leading G30 driver family and is a great fit for golfers looking for that elusive combination of low spin and forgiveness. For women, the Rhapsody family offers lighter overall system mass to launch the ball higher and farther. We’re excited to offer this game-changing technology that will lead to great shot-making and lower scores for golfers of all abilities.”

 Cadence TR Putters:

Ping has been know in the last several years as having some outstanding putters.  Their “True Roll” technology grooves have been a standard on all Ping putters as of late and the new Cadence putters are no different.  Ping will be releasing 8 models, yes I said 8 models in 2015 for their putter line.  With that many new putters they hope to have something for everyone.

Eight models, including four new designs (Anser W, B65, Tomcat C, Rustler) and a counter-balanced option (Anser 2 CB), are available to fit all stroke types (Straight, Slight Arc and Strong Arc). Each features a black PVD finish and white alignment lines. Weight differentiation in the high-MOI Ketsch model is achieved with different 17-4 stainless steel sole plates that vary in thickness. All models available with adjustable-length shafts ($35 upcharge).
