2015 Humana Challenge Preview: Can Reed Repeat?
Hey there Bunkers Nation! Welcome back to what should be another exciting week of Golf! This week’s 2015 Humana Challenge is a very interesting format as well as they are some notable 2015 debuts such as Phil Mickelson and Jason Dufner. Both are expected to give former champion and recent winner of the Hyundai TOC, Patrick Reed a run for his money.
2015 Humana Challenge Quick Fact Breakdown:
Date: January 22, 2015- January 25, 2015
Courses:
Arnold Palmer Private at PGA WEST, Jack Nicklaus Private at PGA WEST and La Quinta Country Club
Purse: $5.7 Million with the Champion taking home $1.3 Million and 500 Fed Ex Cup Points
Broadcast: All four days can be seen on the Golf Channel starting at 3:00pm EST on January 22. (First Tee time is at 11:30 est)
Last Year’s Champion: Patrick Reed
As mention earlier this is a very interesting format. Each professional golfer will be teamed up with a different amateur partner for the first 54 holes. Each golfer will play all three courses at least once. The final round will conclude at the Palmer Private at PGA WEST, but will only include those professional golfers who have made the cut.
All eyes are once again on Patrick Reed and his makes his return since his win at the Hyundai TOC. But again he’s going to contend with some of the big dogs who are making their debut for this season. Guys like Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner are both hungry for a tournament win after both going winless last season. Then let’s not forget about Phil Mickelson who begs the question for many whether or not he’s got any Lefty Magic left. One person who I expect to make a big splash is Matt Kuchar. He’s played very well in Hawaii and fell short to a red hot Jimmy Walker at the Sony Open.
But again, anything could happen, maybe we’ll get a surprise? You never know with the PGA TOUR!
