Inbee Park Collects Women’s Open Championship, LPGA Grand Slam

Inbee Park has already had a good year on the LPGA Tour in 2015 — but on Sunday, she made it great by collecting her seventh career major championship at the RICOH Women’s British Open.

Park came from three shots behind on Sunday to claim the title, her sixth major win in the last 14 contested, besting fellow countrywoman Jin-Young Ko by

“This is something I have been dreaming of all my life and all my career,” Park said after the victory. “To finally reach my goal is just a relief. … I don’t know what else to go for.”

For Park, the win also finishes off the career grand slam — kind of.

According to the LPGA Tour, she has completed the grand slam — but she’s hasn’t won the season’s fifth major — the Evian Masters — since it was given that status in 2013. She did win it the year before, however.

Louise Suggs, Mickey Wright, Pat Bradley, Juli Inkster, Karrie Webb and Annika Sorenstam are the only other women to have won four different majors. Of course, of these legendary women, only Webb is still currently active and capable of winning all five.

There’s been a lot of grand slam talk already this summer with Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson trying to finish off their own slams, but Inbee Park was the only player capable to finishing off a slam who got it done.

Congratulations to Inbee Park.
