Discover the Game-Changing Titleist GT Drivers and Fairway Woods Unveiled for 2024
Titleist unveils groundbreaking GT drivers and fairway woods
In a highly anticipated announcement on August 1, 2024, Titleist has revealed its new GT range of drivers and fairway woods, promising innovations in speed, forgiveness, and adjustability. Custom orders for these advanced clubs are available immediately, with retail sales commencing on August 23. The new suite includes three driver models—GT2, GT3, and GT4—and two fairway wood models, GT2 and GT3.
Titleist’s GT drivers are designed to outpace their predecessors in every respect. The GT2, GT3, and GT4 models all boast an array of technical improvements and features aimed at delivering exceptional performance for golfers of all skill levels.
The GT2 driver features a sizeable 460cc head, offering enhanced speed and forgiveness. It incorporates a higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) design that ensures maximum stability, even on off-center strikes. Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Titleist Metalwood Product Development, hailed the advancements: “The GT line represents a monumental leap forward for Titleist driver design and engineering. The breakthroughs we made in material, construction, shaping and design weren’t possible in prior generations. All the advancements found in GT are working in concert to create the highest-performing driver we have ever made.” Priced at £579, the GT2 driver also includes an adjustable rear weight for customizable performance and comes in lofts ranging from 8° to 11° for both right and left-handed golfers.
The GT3 driver also features a 460cc head but focuses on fine-tuned speed and control, featuring a new adjustable center of gravity (CG) track with five distinct positions. This model offers maximum adjustability to optimize distance and ball flight. It’s integrated with an aerodynamic shape for faster speeds and, similar to the GT2, is priced at £579.
The smaller GT4 driver, with a 430cc head, is designed for low-spin, fast trajectory shots. This model features dual-spin control settings with adjustable weights to cater to golfers looking to eliminate sub-optimal spin rates and achieve more penetrating and efficient ball flight. It includes advanced internal mass distribution and is also priced at £579, available in the same loft ranges as the other GT drivers.
The GT fairway woods, the GT2 and GT3, mirror the level of innovation found in the drivers. Both models are equipped with a Seamless Thermoform Crown made from a new proprietary Matrix Polymer, providing a lightweight, seamless construction that optimizes internal weight positioning. The GT2 fairway wood features a shallow face designed for high flight and low spin with exceptional forgiveness. It is available in lofts ranging from 13.5° to 21° for £349. The GT3 fairway wood, meanwhile, includes the SureFit Adjustable CG Track System for maximum adjustability and controlled flight, priced similarly at £349.
One of the most notable advancements in the GT series is the use of the Proprietary Matrix Polymer in the Seamless Thermoform Crown, a breakthrough that has allowed Titleist to surpass the capabilities of previous models. “One of our first goals with GT was to make it faster than TSR, and the only way to achieve our design goals was to break out of an all-titanium construction,” explained Chuck Golden, Senior Vice President of Titleist Club Research & Development. “The density of this crown is approximately three times lighter than where we were in an all-titanium construction. By wrapping the crown down to the sole, we optimize the mass distribution throughout the head, allowing us significant advantages in designing to our center of gravity and inertia goals.”
Tour professionals have been quick to adopt the new GT line. Players such as Max Homa, Tom Kim, Cameron Young, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris have already made the switch across various major tournaments. The rapid uptake of the GT series at high-profile events like the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LPGA Tour underscores its immediate impact and credibility among top-tier golfers.
Looking forward, these groundbreaking innovations in material and design are expected to set new industry standards and impact future developments in golf club technology. Titleist’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance will no doubt inspire both professionals and amateurs alike to elevate their game. As these new models become available to the public, the broader golf community will have the opportunity to experience the next step in driver and fairway wood technology firsthand.
