NFL Power Rankings: Ranking All 32 Teams Entering Week 8

Imagn Images

7 weeks are officially in the books on the 2024-2025 NFL season. With every team having played at least one-third of its schedule now, the contenders and pretenders are becoming pretty clear. As we get ready for another jam-packed slate in Week 8, let’s dive into how all 32 teams stack up against one another.

32. Carolina Panthers (1-6)

Geoff Burke-Imagn Images

The Panthers were thrashed again, losing 40-7 to the Washington Commanders. Washington backup Marcus Mariota had one of his best games in years, stepping in for injured starter Jayden Daniels. Carolina starter Andy Dalton tossed a pick-six on the opening drive and finished with a 3.2 QBR. The Panthers trotted out Bryce Young for the final drive of the game, and it will be interesting to see if the former No. 1 pick returns to the starting role when the Panthers take on the Broncos in Week 8.

31. Cleveland Browns (1-6)

Scott Galvin-Imagn Images

Amid their fifth straight loss, the Browns lost starting QB Deshaun Watson for the year. The 29-year-old QB ruptured his Achilles in the second quarter of Sunday’s game versus the Bengals. It could spell the end of Watson’s tenure in Cleveland. The Browns still owe Watson $92 million over the next two years, but his play has been disastrous. It would be shocking if the Browns — who would have the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft if it started today — don’t draft a QB in 2025.

30. Tennessee Titans (1-5)

Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images

Mason Rudolph got the start with Will Levis on the mend, and it didn’t change much for the Titans. Tennessee has one of the lowest-ranking offenses in the league. They rank dead last with 145.8 passing yards per game and have scored over 17 points just once all season. They’re likely starting at 1-6 with a trip to Detroit to take on the Lions next week. With the Texans and Colts both above .500 in the division, the Titans can start looking forward to 2025.

29. New England Patriots (1-6)

Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

The Patriots are not ready to compete, but rookie Drake Maye has showcased plenty in just two starts. With no running game to speak of and limited weapons, Maye finished 26-of-37 with 276 yards and two scores. Some thought it was best to keep Maye on the bench to avoid coming under fire behind New England’s weak offensive line. Instead, Maye’s athleticism allows him to extend plays and create outside of structure. He’s been the Patriots’ leading rusher in both of his starts. Losing games while Maye continues to develop isn’t the worst thing for this franchise. Another high pick could help bolster the rest of the offense.

28. New York Giants (2-5)

Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images

What happened to the Giants’ offense? It all seemed to be clicking in their Week 5 win over the Seahawks. However, the Giants have scored just 10 points total over their last two games. New York was held to just a field goal against the Eagles. Daniel Jones finished the day 14-of-21 passing for 99 yards and was sacked seven times. The Eagles were able to run all over New York’s front. Former Giant Saquon Barkley rushed for 176 yards on 17 carries. New York’s best player was Matt Haack, who punted the ball 11 times — the most by any punter in a game this season.

27. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)

Alex Gallardo-Imagn Images

With each passing week, it becomes more and more puzzling how the Raiders beat the Ravens in Baltimore. Since then, Vegas has dropped four of five and has looked worse in each game. The Week 7 matchup versus the Rams was there for the taking, but Vegas couldn’t get out of its own way. Starter Aidan O’Connell went out with a broken thumb, forcing the team to turn back to Gardner Minshew. Throughout Minshew’s career, his best attribute has been the ability to limit turnovers. He turned the ball over four times in this game, including three interceptions. Minshew already has 8 INTs on the year — one shy of his career high. In positive news, rookie TE Brock Bowers leads the league in receptions (47) after adding 10 catches for 93 yards in this one.

26. Miami Dolphins (2-4)

Jasen Vinlove-Imagn Images

The Dolphins looked as lost offensively as ever following its Bye Week. Tyler Huntley and Tim Boyle each threw the ball 13 times, but both failed to eclipse even 90 passing yards. Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill combined for two receptions and 19 receiving yards. The running game was better (40 carries for 188 yards), but Miami was held scoreless after halftime. The good news for Mike McDaniel and company is that Tua Tagovailoa is eyeing a Week 8 return. The offense will surely look better with Tagovailoa at the helm, but he’ll need to be more careful in terms of absorbing hits.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

Peter van den Berg-Imagn Images

The Jaguars couldn’t leave London without getting a win. Jacksonville used a 22-point second quarter to defeat the New England Patriots. Trevor Lawrence had an efficient day (15-of-20, 193 yards, 1 TD) and avoided any major mistakes. Rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. is already emerging as a top pass catcher. He recorded five receptions for 89 yards and caught a TD pass on New England’s talented CB Christian Gonzalez. With Travis Etienne Jr. out, Tank Bigsby flourished as the team’s bell cow. The second-year back rushed for 118 yards on 26 carries — both career-highs — and scored twice.

24. New Orleans Saints (2-5)

Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images

Understandably, the Saints didn’t give their best on Thursday. They entered the game with a stacked injury report that included four of their top offensive players — QB Derek Carr, WRs Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, and FB/TE Taysom Hill — and most of its offensive line. However, it was a poor effort from Dennis Allen’s bunch. The team was down 33-3 before a late touchdown drive from third-string QB Jake Haener. Rookie Spencer Rattler had no time to throw behind a reserve offensive line. CB Paulson Adebo, one of the bright spots on the defense, suffered a broken femur and will be out for the season. Shaheed is also out of the year after undergoing surgery on his meniscus. After a 2-0 start, the Saints have dropped five in a row and will be searching for answers in the offseason.

23. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)

Alex Gallardo-Imagn Images

In a surprising turn of events, it was the Rams’ defense that carried the load in their Week 7 win over the Raiders. LA forced four turnovers and returned a fumble for a touchdown in the 20-15 victory. Kyren Williams pitched in with two rushing touchdowns and is now tied for the league lead with 8 on the year. The Rams need to get healthier, but they’re just one game back in the loss column from the first-place Seahawks. They square off with Seattle in two weeks, but LA faces a tough test in the meantime with the Vikings visiting SoFi Stadium on Thursday.

22. New York Jets (2-5)

Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images

New week, same result. The Jets traded for Davante Adams to reunite him with his former quarterback. New York raced to an early 15-6 lead on Sunday night and allowed 31 straight points to the hosting Steelers. Adams caught 3-of-9 targets for 30 yards. His best highlight was a touchdown-saving tackle following an Aaron Rodgers interception that bounced off Jets WR Garrett Wilson’s chest. It’s just been a comedy of errors for this Jets team. Fortunately, they play the Patriots next week — one of their two wins on the season. The offense is averaging just 15 PPG during its four-game losing streak.

21. Los Angeles Chargers (3-3)

Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images

This felt like a vintage Chargers game. Things were supposed to be different under Jim Harbaugh. However, we’re still seeing Justin Herbert go into superhero mode, only for the team to come up short. This was easily Herbert’s best game of the year. He threw for 349 yards with one of the league’s worst receiving corps. A costly fumble from WR Jalen Reagor cost the team at least three points. LA scored on its final three possessions (all field goals), but the defense could not hold up on the final drive as Arizona kicker Chad Ryland delivered the game-winner as time expired.

20. Dallas Cowboys (3-3)

Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images

In Week 6, the Cowboys got trounced for the third time at home this season. It was a dismal effort on both ends. Lions QB Jared Goff had his way with Dallas’ defense. Offensively, the Cowboys turned the ball over five times and were limited to three Brandon Aubrey field goals. Jerry Jones has come under fire for Dallas’ lackluster offseason — including the decision to ignore the glaring hole at RB. The NFC East remains up for grabs, but the Cowboys do not look like a team ready to win the division. With a Sunday Night Football date at San Francisco coming off the bye week, Dallas has the perfect opportunity to right the ship this week.

19. Arizona Cardinals (3-4)

Joe Rondone/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

It wasn’t pretty, but the Cardinals made just enough plays down the stretch to outlast the Chargers. Kyler Murray wasn’t at his best (14-of-26 passing, 145 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 rush TD). However, he made the play of the game on a 44-yard rushing touchdown to take the lead in the fourth quarter. James Conner rushed for 101 yards, and the Arizona defense held Los Angeles to just 59 rushing yards on 22 carries. This was a must-win for Arizona. They are now tied with the 49ers and Rams in the standings, and all three teams are just a game back from the Seahawks for the division lead.

18. Denver Broncos (4-3)

Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

Winners of four of their last five, the Broncos are beginning to establish a groove. Sean Payton visited New Orleans for the first time since leaving the Saints and dominated his former team. Denver’s rushing attack established the tone early, as the Broncos ran for 225 yards on 35 carries (6.4 YPC). The defense now ranks second in the NFL in sacks after getting to rookie QB Spencer Rattler six times. The Broncos have an excellent chance to improve to 5-3 next week with a home matchup versus the Panthers.

17. Indianapolis Colts (4-3)

Grace Hollars/IndyStar USA TODAY Network via Imagn Images

The Colts have won four of five and are keeping pace with the first-place Texans in the AFC South. Being above .500 with injuries at QB and RB is no easy feat. Anthony Richardson returned to the field on Sunday — a 16-10 win over the Dolphins. The Colts faced a 10-0 deficit early but pitched a second-half shutout. Richardson hasn’t looked great, and Joe Flacco had played solid in relief (7 TDs, 1 INT). However, Richardson is still just nine games into his professional career. He’ll get another chance to establish himself in a pivotal division matchup versus Houston next week.

16. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4)

Cara Owsley/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

If the Bengals can enter the postseason picture, QB Joe Burrow might be the odds-on favorite to win MVP. Burrow is putting up some of the best numbers of his career through the early part of 2024. He added two touchdowns in the win over the Browns, upping his total to 14 TDs. And, the Bengals have needed all of his production. Cincinnati’s defense has improved the last two weeks, but they’ll face a stiffer test in Week 8 with the Philadelphia Eagles coming to town.

15. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)

Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Atlanta fell to 2-3 at home this year following its 34-14 loss to Seattle. Aside from Bijan Robinson putting together a 143-yard day, it was an ugly outing for the Falcons. Kirk Cousins committed three turnovers in a row in the fourth quarter — a fumble returned for a touchdown and back-to-back interceptions — and finished with only one TD. With the game out of reach in the fourth quarter, rookie Michael Penix Jr. made his debut and completed his lone pass attempt for a 14-yard gain.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3)

Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images

Week 7 was an absolutely brutal one for the Bucs. Losing to the Ravens is nothing to be ashamed of, but a pair of injuries could derail Tampa’s season. Mike Evans suffered a hamstring injury on a play that looked like it was going to be a touchdown for the veteran wideout. He’ll be out for the next few weeks. In even worse news, Chris Godwin is likely out for the season after suffering a dislocated ankle. Losing two of the top receivers in the league is not something you can overcome in a week or two. The Buccaneers are in serious trouble and will welcome the division-rival Falcons to Tampa Bay next week.

13. Seattle Seahawks (4-3)

Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Seattle ended its three-game losing streak on Sunday and reclaimed first place in the NFC West. Coming off a 12-point loss to the Niners, the Seahawks put together their best performance of the year in a commanding victory over the Falcons. Kenneth Walker III scored two touchdowns in the first half (one rushing, one receiving) en route to Seattle building a 17-7 lead, and his third score of the game reestablished a 10-point advantage heading into the fourth. Derick Hall’s scoop-and-score with 12:46 to play solidified the win for Seattle. Starting with the scoop-and-score, Seattle’s defense forced three turnovers in a row in the fourth.

12. San Francisco 49ers (3-4)

Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images

The Niners can’t seem to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Dating back to the Super Bowl in 2020, San Francisco is 0-4 against the Chiefs — including last year’s Super Bowl — and both regular season defeats have come at home. On Sunday, the Niners were dealt another huge blow as Brandon Aiyuk was carted off the field following a knee injury (tests later confirmed a torn ACL and MCL). While San Francisco’s defense did its job against Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy failed to produce. Purdy threw three interceptions overall and was picked off on back-to-back possessions in the second half — resulting in Kansas City turning a 14-12 game into a 28-12 advantage.

11. Chicago Bears (4-2)

Peter van den Berg-Imagn Images

Winners of three in a row, the Bears entered their Bye Week with a 4-2 record — and still sit at the bottom of the NFC North. Chicago dominated the pitiful Jaguars to secure its fourth win. Caleb Williams threw four touchdown passes and made only one mistake on the day. D’Andre Swift’s turnaround continued with another strong showing, while both Keenan Allen and Cole Kmet hauled in two TDs apiece. Heading into Week 8, Chicago will head to Washington to face what will likely be a Jayden Daniels-less Commanders squad.

10. Washington Commanders (5-2)

Amber Searls-Imagn Images

Washington remains atop the NFC East following its 40-7 win over Carolina, but it could have had a better week. Star rookie QB Jayden Daniels left the game in the first quarter with a rib injury and was unable to return. If Daniels cannot suit up for next week’s showdown with the Bears, Marcus Mariota will be leading the offense. Against Carolina, Mariota had no trouble stepping in for Daniels. The former No. 2 pick finished 18-of-23 for 205 yards and two touchdowns and looked rather good.

9. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2)

Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images

Welcome back to New York, Saquon Barkley. The former Giant returned to the Meadowlands for the first time since signing with the Eagles in the offseason and he had his way with his former employer. Barkley rushed for 176 yards on just 17 carries and finished the game with more points (six) and total yards (187) than the Giants (3 points and 119 yards). Philadelphia trails Washington (5-2) in the NFC East but still plays its rival twice.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)

Barry Reeger-Imagn Images

After leading Pittsburgh to a 4-2 start, Justin Fields lost his spot as the starting quarterback and was replaced by veteran Russell Wilson. In Wilson’s debut in Black and Gold, he delivered. The former star threw for 264 yards, accounted for three touchdowns (two pass, one rush), and was sacked just one time. Najee Harris was very good on the ground, as well, rushing for 102 yards and one TD on 21 carries. After trailing 15-6 in the final minute of the first half, Pittsburgh went on a 31-0 run to end the game. The defense intercepted Aaron Rodgers twice — the second INT was a horrendous drop by Garrett Wilson — and blanked New York in the second half.

7. Houston Texans (5-2)

Mark Hoffman/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel via the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin-Imagn Images

Well, that was an ugly game for C.J. Stroud. The second-year star had a miserable time against Green Bay’s defense — finishing 10-of-21 for 86 yards — in a 24-22 loss. If not for a muffed punt and a strong kickoff return, Houston’s offense may have been held to single digit points. Joe Mixon (115 yards, two TDs) was the only player to produce on offense. Defensively, Houston held Green Bay to under 300 yards and forced three turnovers. However, it couldn’t stop Green Bay on the final drive of the game and ultimately surrendered the game-winning field goal as time expired.

6. Green Bay Packers (5-2)

Mark Hoffman/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel via the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin-Imagn Images

Winners of 5-of-6, the Packers are on a roll. The most impressive part of Sunday’s win over Houston was the defensive performance. Green Bay held C.J. Stroud and Co. to 22 points overall and just three points in the second half. Houston’s first score was an 11-yard drive following a muffed punt. The Pack held Stroud to 10 completions for 86 yards. While their offense struggled to an extent, as well, it did enough to win the game.

5. Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images

Sunday’s victory over the Titans was a tale of two halves for the Bills. Josh Allen’s offense had four three-and-outs in the first half and was forced to punt five times. The fourth drive of the game resulted in Buffalo’s only touchdown of the first half — also a three-play drive — but the offense flipped the switch after the intermission. Allen led Buffalo to points on all five of its drives in the second half and the Bills outscored Tennessee 27-0. Now, Buffalo has three more wins than anyone else in the AFC East.

4. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images

Early on in Sunday’s tilt with the Lions, the Vikings appeared poised to continue their undefeated start to the season. After preventing a fake punt from being successful on Detroit’s opening drive, the Vikings grabbed the lead moments later thanks to a 34-yard TD run by Aaron Jones. Up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, Minnesota surrendered three touchdowns over the next 15 minutes and spent the majority of the second half playing from behind. An Ivan Pace Jr. scoop-and-score with 5:50 remaining capped a 12-0 start to the fourth and gave the Vikes a 29-28 lead, but the defense was unable to prevent Detroit from driving in the closing minutes of the game and ultimately surrendered a field goal with 15 seconds on the clock.

3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)

Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images

It was another impressive showing for a Ravens team that has now won five straight. Baltimore faced an early 10-0 deficit after the first quarter concluded. They responded by scoring 34 straight points over the next two frames. Lamar Jackson ended with five touchdowns and had his way with Tampa Bay’s defense. Derrick Henry rushed for 169 yards — 81 of which came on a single, devastating run. The defense sacked Baker Mayfield three times and picked off two of his passes. Baltimore’s backfield duo is unstoppable right now and should keep it rolling against Cleveland next week.

2. Detroit Lions (5-1)

Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images

In the biggest game of the season so far, the Detroit Lions went into Minnesota and knocked off the previously undefeated Vikings to claim first place in the NFC North. An ill-advised fake punt to start the game gave Minnesota great field position and led to a touchdown two plays later, and Detroit soon found itself in a 10-0 hole. However, the Lions would outscore Minnesota 28-7 over the next two quarters thanks to two Jahmyr Gibbs TD runs and a pair of Jared Goff TD passes. The Lions briefly surrendered the lead in the fourth quarter, but Jake Bates drilled the game-winning field goal with 15 seconds to play.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (6-0)

Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images

Kansas City is the only undefeated team in the NFL following its victory over San Francisco. Patrick Mahomes failed to crack 160 yards and threw two interceptions and zero touchdown passes…and his team still knocked off the defending NFC champs on the road. Mahomes has more interceptions (8) than touchdowns (6) thus far and it hasn’t mattered. We will see the Chiefs vying for the Super Bowl yet again.
