The Open Championship: Round 2 Results
After a surprising first round the players took to the course again today for the second round of the 2011 British Open Championship.
After Thomas Bjorn and Tom Lewis shared the lead following Thursday’s first round, Lucas Glover and Darren Clarke share the lead heading into the weekend. Clarke shot a -2 while Glover was even for the day, both ending at -4 for the tournament.
Bjorn shot +2 on Friday to put him one stroke back of the leaders. Amateur Tom Lewis, co-leader after round one, shot +4 today to put him at -1 for the tournament.
Another notable score is Phil Mickelson, who crawled up the leaderboard in round two. After starting the day tied for 36th, Mickelson shot a 69 in the second round to put him at -1, just three strokes back of the leaders.
Another surprising note was the amount of top players cut before the weekend. The top two ranked players in the world, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, both missed the cut at The Open. Plenty of other notables missed the cut as well, including Graeme McDowell, Padraig Harrington, Geoff Ogilvy and Justin Leonard.
