Round 2 Results: The Barclays
With the Barclays now just a 54-hole tournament due to Hurricane Irene, the players in the tournament are gearing up for the final round on Saturday instead of Sunday.
That made today’s second round much more vital, and the players recognized that. Yesterday’s clubhouse leader, Harrison Frazar, shot 2-under on Friday to drop several spots in the rankings.
This means we have a new leader after round two, and his name is Matt Kuchar. The American shot 6-under today to put his 36-hole score at 14-under. He is currently a stroke in front of Dustin Johnson, who shot an impressive 8-under in round two.
Yesterday’s runner-up, Vijay Singh, had another impressive day on Friday, shooting a 64 to put him just one stroke back of the leader.
Another notable pro who had a good day was Padraig Harrington. who jumped six spots on the leaderboard after a 4-under puts him at minus 10 for the tournament.
The scores are indeed impressive so far at the Barclays, and the cut line is certainly evidence of that. Following the second round of the tournament, the players who shot -3 or higher were cut from the tournament, one of the lowest cut lines of the season.
Some of the notables to miss the cut were Ricky Barnes, Davis Love III, Geoff Ogilvy and Stuart Appleby.
