Sergio Garcia Wins Wyndham Championship; Looks Towards Ryder Cup
Will Sergio make the European Ryder Cup team?, well no need to ask anymore.
Garcia was holding a one-shot lead heading into the final round and he maintained his one-stroke lead through the first four holes before the rain delay. When Garcia came back on Monday, he looked like the guy who had just played three rounds of great golf. Garcia didn’t come off the blocks scorching, but birdied when it mattered most, picking up five birdies over his final eight holes to win by two over Tim Clark.
After struggling with his game at various points this year, Garcia was able to come through when it mattered. For a guy who’s had trouble in the consistency department, the win at the Wyndham could be just the thing to not only boost Garcia’s confidence ahead of the Ryder Cup, but also give him a shot in the arm to contend, and possibly win, a major before his career is over.
