RBC Heritage Tournament Winners And Records | PGA Tour
Known to many as the Heritage Classic, it is one the five PGA Tour “invitational” events. It was created in 1969 and has been held at the Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Since 1972, the first two rounds are played on both the Harbour Town Golf Links and the Ocean course at Sea Pines, with the final two rounds held at Harbour Town. Since 1983, the tournament is played directly after the Masters Tournament.
For 23 years (1987-2010) the main tournament sponsor had been MCI/Verizon. In 2012, the Royal Bank of Canada took over sponsorship for a four year deal. The tournament however is run by the Heritage Classic Foundation. This Foundation distributes the revenue produced by tournament to a wide variety of charitable organizations, universities, and medical institutions.
The current purse for this tournament is set at 5.8 million with the winner walking away with 1.04 million, 500 fed cup ex points and the “Heritage” Plaid Tartan jacket.
